Reisverslag Glittering Library
18 april 2014
We had exactly three deadlines to make in ten days. We somehow manage to miss one. How did we do that? Read Definition Teenagers Explained to find out.
Working in the library was possibly even more fun than Monday. That was partly because we already knew where all the books were and where to look. I got the feeling that I was starting to get to know the library. It's a good thing that it's quite small. We got a list of books we had to put on the shelves and it went so much faster than Monday. I made a beautiful mistake putting a large print (mostly for the visually impaired) right where it was supposed to be, except it was on the wrong shelve. That was inconvenient because I had to find the right place on the other shelve and then place it there. There were two of us, so we got through the list fairly quickly (I guess, I have no idea how fast those lists can be done).
After the list, we decided to take a break. A well-timed break I might add.
I had some tea and my friend updated his blog (he was two days behind, bad boy).
After the break, we moved shelves, chairs and tables around in order to get the library pretty for the art activity. After we'd done that we went back to the house to have lunch. Our lunch was actually leftover wrapcake. It was very nice.
Now I'm starting to wonder why it is that teenagers can never be on time. I should be able to be on time, I mean, I have a watch and frequently check it. I guess there is some ancient power holding me back, causing me to be unable to be exactly on time.
If there is such a power, we brought it to its knees by being spot on in the afternoon. We were at the library at two o'clock, exactly as expected. Once there we prepared for the art activity so it was all set. I had a bad feeling about the glitters that were put on the table, because I've seen what happens to glitter combined with children. EVERYTHING. GETS. GLITTERBOMBED. EVERYTHING.
I kind of decided beforehand that I wasn't going to spend any time helping kids with their glitter, because I like the fact that my clothes don't look like they've just jumped out of a television screen showing a fairytale. Lucky enough, there was no need for me to actually help them with glitters.
Then the children came running in, all very eager to start being an artist. Their parents managed to help them well enough so my friend and I didn't really have a purpose, but it was alright because we started doing some art of our own.
We had a really good time from then on, constantly joking and laughing. Right up until the end, when we headed home. We actually started singing on the street the second we left the library. I have to wonder what people who don't know us think of us. If I wouldn't know me, I would think I was a weird dutch guy who's probably drunk too much.
It's a good thing I am me :)
When we went home, all we had to do was make the oven warm itself up (the luxury that we didn't have to warm it up ourselves), and put in our PIZZAS! In case you're still wondering, I LOVE PIZZAS.
We just didn't finish the pizza.
Instead we watched a movie and at the sight of the first commercial we ate the rest of it. Ah, to be a teenager.
What do you do when you're in York, have absolutely no restrictions in a house that's not yours? Exactly, you watch a movie... Or two.
After the movies, we went upstairs to not sleep. Instead, we played on our DS until it happened to be twelve o'clock. My friend went upstairs and I decided that maybe I should go to sleep too, but instead I read my new book. My new book it not as intense as TFIOS, which kind of causes me to like it less, but I like the idea of someone living the same life over and over.
When I saw on my computer that it was two o'clock, I was shocked because I didn't expect to have read that long. I fell asleep the second I put it away.
Today will be a day not to write about, because we have to get food for about three days. I'll have to go to Tesco's again, so everyone, stay clear of the Tesco's today. Or you WILL be eaten.

Have you made a picture of your artwork? ;) Is it in the library right now? Because once they put it on the wall, you'll become a famous artist! :D
And with some luck one of the little children's parents has a music company, and after heaving heard you, they might have decided that you'll become a famous singer as well!
Furthermore, the library will have read this blog and you'll become a famous writer too!
A great future lies ahead of you and that's all because of York!!!!!!
Another option is that you end up working at the Tesco's... Not quite sure yet. ;)

WE WANT MORE.

Hi Reinder, thank you and Papijn very much for all your hard work in the library over the two days you were here, you did a grand job and it was a pleasure to have you - come back anytime!
P.S. The children's library still looks like the inside of a glitterball...almost a shame to clean it up!
